RAUL FARIA

Head of Gaming & Esports

Born in Beja on February 8, 1990, I grew up in Tavira and spent several years living in Hamburg, Germany. A lifelong video game enthusiast, I became a central figure in the development of Portugal’s Football Esports scene from 2011 onward, organizing a wide range of tournaments, leagues, and events.

What began as a hobby evolved into a professional path during my time in Hamburg, where I worked as a Quality Manager at Travian Games between 2014 and 2016.

My growing influence within the community led me to found the Portuguese FIFA League in 2016—a milestone that preceded my invitation to head the Gaming and Esports division at the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) just a year later.

In my current role, I have applied my deep expertise to shape the national competitive ecosystem: designing a calendar of over 100 tournaments, managing the delivery of numerous events, launching the National Football Esports Team—which achieved 3rd place in the first FIFA-endorsed international competition—and registering more than 24,000 players and 400 clubs on the official platform, esports.fpf.pt.
